Ghost Month in Taiwan

Ghost Month in Taiwan

We cooperate with companies from all over the world. One of our partners from Taiwan 🇹🇼 during a conversation with our import expert – Agnieszka, told her about their national holiday, which they are currently celebrating – a Ghost Festival.

In Taiwan, but also in China, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong, the seventh month of the lunar calendar is the so-called “Ghost Month” – then the gates of the underworld open and ghosts can freely visit their loved ones.

The Ghost Festival is celebrated not only in cemeteries, but also in private homes. The traditional rituals associated with the holiday include launching small reed boats with lanterns 🏮 on the water, which are to set the direction of lost spirits. The relatives of the deceased burn paper imitation money in cemeteries to please the spirits that roam the earth.

In keeping with the belief that spirits roam among the living during this period, weddings, surgeries, buying cars, swimming, going out or taking photos after dark are avoided during Ghost Month. Despite the Ghost Month and the holidays in Poland coming to an end, our experts are working at full speed! 😉
