Final of the 8th edition of the National Shipping and Logistics Olympiad at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdansk.
On Friday, April 12, the Final of the 8th edition of the National Shipping and Logistics Olympiad was held at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdansk.
For many years we have been involved in the organization of the Olympiad, whose main organizer is the Faculty of Economics of the University of Gdansk, and whose patronage is held by the Ministry of Education and Science. The Olympiad is aimed at high school students interested in the subject of transport, forwarding and logistics, especially those studying the professions of freight forwarding technician, logistics technician, port and terminal operation technician and warehouseman-logistician.
The first stage of the Olympiad (November 17, 2023) was attended by 4,834 students from 259 schools across Poland. The second stage (March 1, 2024) was attended by 689 students from 134 schools, and the best 30 entered the final.
During the finals, the contestants solved tasks in the field of transport, forwarding and logistics, prepared by the Olympiad’s Main Committee composed of experts working at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdansk. In addition to material and cash prizes and exemption from the theoretical part of the vocational exam, the finalists of the Olympiad had a chance to win indices of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Gdansk. This year Nautiqus also provided an internship for the winner of the Olympiad.
We are extremely pleased that once again we can support the organizers of the Olympiad by sponsoring the first place prize, which the winner – Mateusz Nowicki – was presented by our vice president – Malgorzata Lepa.
This year, once again, we decided to make a substantive contribution through a presentation in which Magdalena Lepa-Roman, our head of the forwarding department, told the participants of the Olympiad about the work of a freight forwarder. Young candidates for future freight forwarders learned what is important in the work of a freight forwarder, the difference between the forwarding process in export and import. Magda also talked about unforeseen difficulties in the complex forwarding process, such as the blockade of the Suez Canal and the current situation in the Red Sea.
We are happy to make our contribution to the future cadres of the shipping industry.
Huge congratulations to all the finalists!!!
